Module Eleven: Decluttering

Are you constantly trying to find your keys and phone?

Or do you walk into a room and forget why you came into it?

If so, you are not alone and as we live in a world of abundance, clutter is everywhere. It is where we live, where we work, and most of all in our minds! Maybe that is down to too much of Netflix. Who knows, but the reality is that when our minds are full, we can’t take anything in, and when our house is full of stuff, we can’t actually find anything! This is why the minimalist project came into being and you can watch tath on Netflix if you like to get the idea!

Basically, when we simplify our life, our life becomes simple and brings many advantages with it.

This module will explore what those advantages are and how to start decluttering your life.

Step 1: Watch the recorded coaching module

Just click the play button on the embedded video and take notes.

Step 2: Download the presentation

Simply your life, right here right now.

Step 3: Allocate time to do the work

Now it is time to become aware of the clutter in the mind and around you, then you can make subtle changes to your working environment and lifestyle to start to clear it. There are some useful tried and tested templates in order to do this and many specialists that can help you. The end result will be that you feel lighter and start to see clearer.

Coach Advice:

"Once you are aware of what you are doing and the consequences of it, we believe that you won’t choose to do it anymore. ”

Time to be compassionate to yourself and understand why you do what you do. The confusion of clutter can create a perfect smokescreen to avoid what is and therefore avoid those feelings of guilt and shame. However, who are you hiding from? There is nothing to be guilty of and whose eyes are you looking through, you are human! Time to come out of the closet as it were and respect this precious human life that has been given to you. So declutter your environment, declutter your mind and start contributing to the life around you. There is nothing to be guilty of, you are human! Develop mindfulness as a tool and enrich your life with present moment awareness. This will give you freedom from the past and freedom from worrying about the future. All there is, is right here right now, this present moment as you are reading this. To take charge, it is up to you. Not anybody else. So how will you respond and what will you do differently?

Step 4: Download the templates

In order to help you put some changes in place, templates for decluttering are provided so you don’t need to reinvent the wheel. Of course there are also many apps that can help along the way too, but the important thing is to be consistent with what works for you. Just download each one and print your own copies. Alternatively you can create your own in evernote or another note organising app. The distraction test has been the most useful template for our clients and remember there is no right or wrong, just what is.

Celebrating ADHD run weekly group sessions on each module so you might find it useful to join one of those LIVE online webinars. The benefits of this are that you will start to realise that you are not alone in these struggles with decluttering. We want you to start fulfilling your potential and thriving with ADHD so start listening to our Celebrating ADHD podcast to get some inspiration. There is a recommended episode for each module.

Recommended Meditation for this module:

Letting go is the essence of mindfulness meditation. Thoughts, emotions, ideas, opinions, beliefs, emotions, and sensations are all to be observed, explored, and then let go. This can be a difficult part of mindful living. Imagine you were asked to hold a glass of water absolutely still. When this happens then you are able to see clearly. Imagine living in a house where you know where everything is and that you are able to access certain knowledge in the brain as you know where it is. These are the benefits of decluttering and living life simply. The more you practice this meditation, the more you will be able to let go of stuff. We suggest you do this every day until you move on to the next module.

Step 5: Book a coaching review or take time out to reflect yourself

It is important to monitor and track our progress along the way in order to take charge of your ADHD. For example through taking the time out to do this reflection will highlight what is working for and what is not. This will save time in the long term as why to continue doing something that is not working for you and also if something is working for you, then why not do more of it? Therefore, please take this step as it is essential to the journey. You can even book a review session with a professional ADHD coach at a reduced rate below and then an online form will be sent to you in order to prepare for the session.

Monitor and track your progress.

Now it is time to review your module to see what you have learned and what changes you are putting in place. It is advisable that this is booked with one of our professional ADHD coaches.
